Audition tips for the prospective students:
Posture and bow holding should reflect an approach to the instrument that will allow consistent technical progress and result in accurate intonation
Playing a solo that is too difficult will generally lower an audition score
Solos should be performed without accompaniment
Sight reading will be selected by the judge(s) at the audition

ORCHESTRA ACADEMY PROGRAM
Young kids will be trained to build a strong foundation, learn music theory, rhythm, sight-singing, chamber skills, etc so that they can be ready to join orchestras anytime.
The students regularly participate in orchestral rehearsals and concerts, providing them with an insight into the everyday life of a professional musician. They not only get to know the standard repertoire but also how to listen to their colleagues and to integrate themselves into the orchestra collective.

Duration: 2 years (probationary time: 6 months), training ends if the student finds a position in an orchestra.

Coaches for all programs are drawn from the most highly qualified professional musicians in the San Francisco region. Many perform in the San Francisco Symphony, California Symphony, Sonnet Ensemble or other local orchestras.
